Konjac is a plant root that has been eaten in Asia for centuries and, more recently, turned into the softest natural cleansing sponge there is. Dry, it is hard. Soaked in warm water it swells into a springy pad that lifts oil and dead skin with the lightest possible exfoliation. The White version is pure konjac with no clay or charcoal, which makes it the one to reach for when skin is reactive, or for a baby's face and neck. It works with water alone. Composts when it wears out.

How to use

• Soak in warm water until soft, massage the face in circles, rinse
• Squeeze out, hang to dry between uses. Replace every 4 to 6 weeks. Compost when done
