A straight-sided copper mug, 16 ounces, smooth-walled and finished dark from the start. The antique finish means it arrives looking like it has already been used for years, which saves you the wait.
100% pure copper. Solid, not plated, not lined. Butte Copper Company confirmed it. Most mule mugs sold today are copper-plated stainless steel, and they photograph exactly like this one until the plating wears through at the rim and the steel shows. Plated mugs also never patina. This one keeps moving after it leaves us, deepening unevenly, and no two age alike. That is the tell that it is real copper.
Hand wash only. Detergent and heat in a dishwasher leave copper blotchy. Lemon and salt will bring it bright if you want that; leaving it dark is just as good.
Bare copper is happiest with water, beer and spirits. A mule with fresh lime is an acidic drink on bare copper, which is traditional and fine to enjoy. Drink it cold and don't let it sit for hours. Never store anything in copper.
Copper conducts cold quickly, so ice water frosts the outside in seconds.
