About this product

Organic, regeneratively grown heirloom-quality dry beans from a sixth-generation family farm, tested clean for more than 220 pesticides and glyphosate. Nine varieties, one pound each.

Most dry beans on grocery shelves are commodity beans of unknown age and origin, and conventional beans are often sprayed with glyphosate right before harvest to dry them down. Doudlah Farms Organics grows theirs on certified organic, regeneratively farmed soil in Evansville, Wisconsin, where the Doudlah family has farmed for six generations. Every lot is third-party Tested Clean for over 220 pesticides and glyphosate, so you know exactly what you are, and are not, eating. Because they are fresher, they cook more evenly and taste noticeably creamier and richer than old-crop beans.

Beans are one of the most nourishing, affordable foods there is: packed with plant protein, fiber, folate, iron, magnesium and potassium, and naturally gluten-free.

  • Black: small, glossy and earthy. Tacos, burritos, black bean soup, dips.

  • Small Red: smooth and velvety. Classic Louisiana red beans and rice, stews.

How to cook

Rinse and sort the beans, then soak at least 8 hours and drain. Bring to a boil in 8 or more cups of fresh water for 10 minutes, then simmer 90 to 120 minutes until tender, or finish in a slow cooker or Instant Pot. Always cook beans thoroughly, since undercooked beans contain natural plant lectins. Cook a big batch and refrigerate or freeze for quick meals all week.
