About this product

Lard from acorn-fed Iberico pigs, the same animals behind the world's most prized ham.

Purebred Iberico pigs roam the oak pastures of Spain's Dehesa eating acorns, and it changes their fat completely. Iberico fat is famously high in oleic acid, the same monounsaturated fat that makes olive oil healthy, which is why the pigs are sometimes called olive trees on legs. The result is a lard with a silky texture, a delicate nuttiness and real depth of flavor.

Lard was the baking and frying fat of every traditional kitchen before shortening and seed oils replaced it. It makes the flakiest pastry there is and fries clean at high heat. One ingredient: 100% Black Label Iberico de Bellota pork fat.
