About this product

Tallow from pasture-raised American bison, the leanest animal on the range.

Bison fat is firmer and cleaner-tasting than beef tallow, with a faint, pleasant smokiness. It comes from animals raised on U.S. grasslands, and it is rendered in small batches with nothing added. One ingredient: pasture-raised bison fat.

Like all ruminant fats, bison tallow is stable at high heat and rich in fat-soluble vitamins. It has a long history as the fat in pemmican, the original travel food, and it is a favorite for making tallow skincare because it is so neutral.

Who this is for

  • You want a high-heat cooking fat with no seed oils and no additives
  • You make pemmican, tallow balm or homemade skincare
  • You cook carnivore, keto or paleo and want variety beyond beef
  • You like the taste of bison and want that flavor in your pan

How to use

Sear, fry, roast and bake with it. Solid at room temperature; scoop what you need. 14 oz glass jar. Naturally shelf stable; refrigerate after opening for longest life. This 14 oz size is grass-fed, not grass-finished.

Fatworks has rendered fats from small U.S. family farms since 2011, putting to use a nourishing part of the animal that farms once threw away.
