A small dose of bitter-tasting herbs before a meal has been used across West African, Caribbean and European kitchens to wake up digestion and appetite. Soursop (Annona muricata, also called graviola or guanábana) is a tropical fruit whose leaves and fruit are a staple of Caribbean folk herbalism, rich in vitamin C and plant antioxidants.
