What UMF 15+ and MGO 514+ mean

These are the two numbers worth understanding, and most jars on the shelf only give you one.

• MGO 514+ is methylglyoxal, the naturally occurring compound that gives Manuka its potency. Higher number, higher concentration.
• UMF 15+ is the Unique Manuka Factor grade, an independent certification that tests four markers, not one: MGO, leptosperin, DHA and HMF. It verifies the honey is true Manuka, from New Zealand, and has not degraded on the shelf.

Plenty of honey advertises an MGO number alone. UMF certification is the harder standard, and it is why this jar can be traced: scan the QR code on the lid to pull up this jar's UMF certificate and the New Zealand region it came from.

How to use

Half a teaspoon to a teaspoon a day, off the spoon or stirred into warm tea, yogurt or toast. Do not cook with it; heat undoes what you paid for. If it crystallizes, that is a good sign; raw honey does that. Stand the jar in warm water and it comes right back. Net wt. 17.6 oz (500 g).
