Fig & Grove — Handmade Goat Milk Soap

Cold-process goat milk soap from the Sierra foothills, with nothing in it but oils, milk, clay and essential oils.

Fig & Grove makes soap the slow way: cold-process, hand-cut, and cured a minimum of four weeks so the bar is hard and lasts. Raw goat milk from Copperopolis and the surrounding county gives a creamy lather that cleans without stripping. Colors come from clays and plant powders, scent from essential oils only. No synthetic fragrance, no dyes, no detergents.

The bars

• Wild Grove: palo santo, lavender and sage feel with ten essential oils (lavender, sage, guaiacwood, cedarwood, patchouli, clove, elemi, bergamot, myrrh, spearmint), colored with alfalfa, French green clay and charcoal, topped with cornflower petals and sesame seeds. 4.8 oz.
• Tallow & Goat Milk (Unscented): saponified grass-fed beef tallow and raw goat milk, nothing else. The sensitive-skin bar. About 4.6 oz.
• Orange Patchouli: dark, earthy patchouli brightened with orange, sweet and spicy with musky undertones, colored with purple clay, rose kaolin and charcoal. About 4.6 oz.
• Maple Chai and Vanilla Pumpkin Spice: the warm, spiced fall bars.
• Cozy Flannel and Nightfall: new cold-weather scents from the latest batch.

Base ingredients for the scented bars: coconut oil, olive oil, sustainable palm oil, raw goat milk, essential oils, natural clays and botanicals. Bars are hand-cut, so weight varies slightly.

Made in small batches by a family-owned soap company in Copperopolis, California, about an hour up the road from Modesto.
