Smooth-walled copper, 16 ounces. The Roosevelt is one of the cleaner shapes in the line: no hammering, no texture, nothing to catch the light but the surface itself.
It is 100% pure copper, solid all the way through, and Copper Mug Company confirmed that. No steel core, no plate, no lacquer. The comparison matters. Copper-plated stainless steel photographs exactly the same, feels light, wears through where your lip meets the rim, and holds its shine forever because there is nothing there to age. This mug is heavy and it will not stay shiny. A smooth wall shows patina more plainly than a hammered one, so expect the finish to go warm and mottled.
Hand wash only. Never the dishwasher, since detergent and heat leave copper blotchy. Half a lemon dipped in salt brings the mirror finish back. Letting it darken is equally fine and takes no effort.
Water, beer and spirits are what bare copper does best. A mule with fresh lime is acidic and traditional, so pour it, drink it cold, and don't leave it standing for hours. Copper is not for storage.
Copper is naturally antimicrobial, which is why hospitals fit copper door handles.
