Frontier Organics Local Natural Provisions

Questions

Local delivery

Do you deliver?

Yes. We deliver anything in the store to any address within 5 miles of 429 McHenry Ave, Modesto — $7 flat, or free over $100, with a $35 minimum before tax. Order by 3 PM and it goes out that evening after 7 PM. Everything is on the Local Delivery page.

Which days do you deliver?

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, every evening after 7 PM. No deliveries Thursday — that's farmers market day. No deliveries Sunday — the store is closed.

Can I get raw milk delivered?

Yes, within our 5-mile route, straight from our cooler to your door in insulated bags. What we can never do is ship it — see below.

Do I need to be home?

No. Leave a cooler on the porch for cold items and we'll pack it in for you. If you'd rather we knock, say so in the order notes.

Can I order by phone?

Please do. Call (209) 968-8435 during store hours and we'll build the order with you.

The standard

What does “clean label” actually mean here?

Every ingredient on the panel is identifiable as food. No industrial seed oils — no canola, soybean, corn, sunflower, safflower or grapeseed, and cold-pressed versions of those don’t get a pass either. No refined sugar or HFCS, no artificial sweeteners, no synthetic preservatives or dyes, and no “natural flavors.” The full rule is on the standard page.

Why won’t you carry a brand I like?

Usually one of three reasons: a seed oil somewhere in the ingredients, a vague flavour or preservative term, or ownership. We don’t stock publicly traded brands or brands whose parent company is Big Food. Ask us and we’ll tell you exactly which gate it failed.

What about cold-pressed sunflower or canola?

Still no. An oil has to clear two tests here: it has to be mechanically pressed rather than solvent-extracted, and it has to do something olive, avocado, coconut, butter or tallow doesn’t already do better. Cold-pressed canola clears the first and fails the second. Gentler extraction changes how the oil was made, not what it is.

Isn’t there camelina in your tallow butters?

Yes — four to eight percent, in four of the five. Cold-pressed, unrefined, never near a solvent, so it clears the first test. It clears the second because it’s one of very few plant oils with meaningful omega-3 that also stays stable, which is exactly what a shelf-stable butter needs and what tallow alone won’t give you. We put it on the label and on the standard page rather than waiting to be asked.

Is everything organic?

No, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Organic certification costs money that small family producers often can’t justify, and some of the best farming we’ve seen is uncertified. Organic is a strong preference and a scoring factor. Clean label and honest sourcing are the hard gates.

Raw dairy

Can you ship raw milk?

No — and no one legally can. Federal law prohibits raw milk crossing state lines. We can bring it to your door within 5 miles, or hold it cold for pickup, and we keep it below 45°F right up to the moment you take it. Local delivery and in-store pickup only, always.

Is raw milk legal in California?

Yes, for retail sale, when it comes sealed and bottled from a CDFA-permitted California dairy. Ours does. Every container carries the state-required notice.

Ordering

What can I buy online?

Everything we stock. Our own products — the Frontier apothecary line, TALO skincare and the Frontier Tallow Co. butters — ship nationwide. Meat, poultry, dairy, eggs, fresh bread and anything refrigerated or frozen can't be shipped, but they can be delivered locally or picked up in store.

Can you ship bread?

No. Our sourdough and baked goods come in fresh from local bakers and are meant to be eaten within days, not after a week in a courier box. Bread is local delivery or in-store pickup only — same as the milk and the meat.

Do you do local pickup?

Yes, and it’s free. Choose it at checkout and collect at 429 McHenry Ave. We hold refrigerated items cold until you arrive.

Shipping cost?

Flat rate on national shipping, free over $100. Local delivery is $7 flat, also free over $100. Pickup is always free.

Returns?

Thirty days on anything unopened. Opened food and refrigerated items are the exception, for reasons we hope are obvious. If a delivery arrives wrong or damaged, tell us within 48 hours with a photo and we'll make it right.

Our products

Where are your own products made?

At 429 McHenry Avenue, in small batches. Rendered, whipped and poured here. Nothing is bought in finished and relabelled.

Do your skincare products treat conditions?

They’re cosmetics. They clean, beautify and moisturise, and we describe how they feel and what’s in them. We don’t make claims about treating, healing or preventing anything, because that would be both illegal and dishonest.

Do you sell wholesale?

Talk to us. If you run a store that holds a standard like ours, we’d like to hear from you.
